Dead Pilot’s Intention
Commander A. C. MacLeod, who was killed in the crash of a Dakota aircraft in the Marlborough Sounds, was to have opened an hotel in Eketahuna shortly. He had been granted a licence at the last meeting of the Pahiatua Licensihg Committee. The committee originally decided on granting only one licence, that of the premises already open, but later agreed to grant a second licence, Commander MacLeod being the successful applicant. Extensive alterations to the premises, which are owned by Mr K. J. Sutton, proprietor of the Club Hotel,' Carterton. were already being made, and it had been hoped to open the new hotel in November.
