SEVEN TRIES SCORED BY ONE PLAYER IN DOBSON MATCH
An exceptional performance was recorded by W. Mountford, the Blackball three-quarter, at Dobson yesterday. In the match against Cobden he scored 23 of Blackball’s 51 points, his tally being made up of seven tries and one goal (conversion of a try). Blackball won an open game by 51 points to 15, Cobden being unable to cope with Blackball’s passing movements in the second spell. The first half was fairly even and provided some bright football. Cobden scored three good tries, Mooney making an exceptional solo run for Hawkins to touch down, while L. Jordon made good openings for the tries scored by A. Mooney and I. Marley. All three tries were converted by R. Lee. Blackball led by 19 points to 10 at the interval, but in the second spell it had matters much its own wav, to make the final score, 51-15. Try-getters for Hie winners were W. Mountford' (7), W. Boyd (2), R. Aynsley, P. Morrow. K. Mountford aiid R. O’Donnell. R. Nuttall converted four and Aynsley and W. Mountford one each.
