BASKETBALL FOUR PLAYERS FROM WEST COAST IN COMBINED TEAM
j Main interest in basketball circles ; on the West Coast last Saturday centred in the V est Coast Basketball As'sociation’s representative team which . was playing in the trial matches at I Nelson. The trials were played for , the purpose of selecting a combined. ' team from the Marlborough, Nelson, I Buller, West Coast and Hokitika associations to play the touring Aus|tralian team at Nelson later this month.
j Four players from the West Coast- ' Buller district gained selection. They were: M. Fyfe (Buller), P. Flaherty | (Hokitika), K. Kennedy and N. Burgess (West Coast). I At a meeting of referees this week ■it was decided to proceed with the . practical examinations and a start in ■ this direction will be made tomorrow, when Miss N. Grogan, Mrs Rodger land Miss I. Stuart will be the examiners. i The third round of the association’s 'competitions wiil commence tomorrow and the round will be completed 'as quickly as possible. No compei tition matches will be played on Sepi tember 11 as representative matches ifor both senior and junior teams will I be played on that date.
