RANGOON PREPARES TO RESIST ATTACKS BY REBELS
(Rec. 10.10 a.m.) RANGOON, August 12. The Government is preparing to resist possible rebel attacks on Rangoon. A curfew has been imposed and police stations have been barricaded. It is reported that the rebels have' captured Prome, cutting off Rangoon from the north by rail and river. The Rangoon-Mandalay mail train had to turn back 20 miles north of Rangoon today because of the rebels’ activities. Dakotas brought a detachment of Kachin reinforcements to Rangoon from the northern hills.
