TASMAN AIR SERVICE SUSPENDED: NO PLANES TO CHARTER
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 7. As no charter aircraft is available from any source in Australia or New ! Zealand after April 10, the trans-Tas- . man air service has been suspended ! until further notice. This was an- ' nounced by Mr G Z N. Roberts, general I manager of Tasman Empire Airways, | today. | Mr Roberts said one of the four ■' Sandringham flying-boats grounded | by the company on February 23 be- | cause of engine defects, had been I tested to the satisfaction of the com- • pany, but it had been decided to have ■ the tests officially confirmed by the ■ Royal Australian Air Force establish- , ment in Australia. It was hoped to fly this aircraft over to Australia on Thursday. The company hoped its own aircraft would refeume the Tasman service late this month or early in May. '
