FAMILIAR TERMS
After receipt of a letter from the Under-Secretary to the Min-ister-in-Charge of the Police Department, Mr A .G. Osborne, regarding the Greymouth police station and containing many familiar clauses, ‘acknowledging receipt of note the text of resolution.,....; having, inquiries made into the position and will write again shortly ’.the secretary of the Westland Progress League, Mr J. Saunders, at last evening’s meeting of the league, referred to the fact that all other letters from the Minister on the subject had been couched in very similar terms. To the amusement of members, however, he then announced that the letter was identical in every way with one received from Mr Osborne on the same subject over 20 months previously. The coincidence, he stated, had been pointed out to the Minister, and a more informative letter had quickly been dispatched by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser.
