SALE OF ARAHURA HOTEL: HIGHER PRICE APPROVED
The sale of the Greyhound Hotel at Arahura was approved by the Westland; Land Sales Committee, which sat at Greymouth yesterday. Though the transfer at a higher price was approved, it was pointed out that no increase in goodwill had been allowed, the advance being permitted to cover improvements to the building carried out by the vendor. The vendor was G. C. Jones and the prospective purchaser P. F. Walker. The sale price approved was £2750. Mr J. W. Greenslade presided at yesterday’s sitting and associated with him were Messrs J. Mulcare and H. N. Pyne. The second sale within a month of a Mawhera quay combined business and residential prefnises was approved by the committee. This transaction was between G. A. Webster and Harold A.. Innes, the property involved being an umbrella shop at the east end of Mawhera quay. The committee agreed to the sale on. the same condition as the first application, that is, subject to a reduction from £1450 to £1375. Other applications approved yesterday were: — Maori Trustee to Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch, area in Greymouth Macri Reserve; price £26 8s per year. J. Lindbom and D. Cochrane to E. W. Finn, four acres, Mawheranui S.D.; price, £lOO. L. C. Thurlow and P. H. Mclntosh to M. T. Gray and yA. L. Gray, 20 perches, Alexander . street. Greymouth; price £Bso.—Reduced to £7OO. T. Nolan to J. O’Connor, Matanui; price, £ 185. J. P. Molloy to T. Molloy, 20.2 perches. Cobden; price, £l2so.—Reduced to £1125. W. E. Phillins tn G. T. McLennan, Gi’cvmnidb S.D., 1 rood 18 perches; price, £950.
