OBITUARY Mrs Eliza Wilson
The death occurred yesterday at Greymouth of Mrs Eliza Jane Wilson, wife of Mr A. H. Wilson, of Gresson street. She was born at Huinga, Taranaki, and had lived on the West Coast for the past 28 years. Mrs Wilson is survived by her husband, two sons, Leslie (Greymouth) and John (Runanga) and two daughters, Miss Olive Wilson and Mrs Ivan Wilson (Carterton); also two sisters, three brothers and three grandchildren. The funeral will take place at the Karoro cemetery tomorrow afternoon. Mr William Bruce The death occurred at the Grey Hospital early this morning of Mr William Bruce, of Cobden, aged 47. Born at Newcastle-on-Tyne, Mr Bruce was formerly a member of the Royal Navy, in which he Served during the First World War, later transferring to the mercantile marine. He retired about 11 years ago and had resided since that time in Cobden. Mr Bruce was a single man and had no relatives in New Zealand. The funeral will take place at the Karoro cemetery tomorrow. Mr James Reid (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The death has occurred at Christchurch of Mr James Reid, of Riversleigh, Darfield, one of New Zealand’s best-known Corriedale and English Leicester stud breeders. Born at Beith, Ayrshire, Scotland, in September, 1866, Mr Reid came to New Zealand in 1883. In 1886, with his elder brother, Mr Robert Reid, he took up the Riversleigh property of 428 acres. He and his brother ran a stud of Corriedale and English Leicester flecks until Mr Robert Reid died in 1928, and then Mr James Reid carried on alone. Mr Reid’s stud flocks were among the first of their kind to be established in this country and many of his stock sold readily overseas.
