BABY ACCIDENTALLY STRANGLED IN COT

(P.A,) BLENHEIM, This Day. A 14-months-old baby, Michael John Kerwin, son of Mr and Mrs T. N. Kerwin, of Picton, was found' dead in his cot on Saturday with the looped end of an electric light ceiling switch cord round his neck. The' baby was put down to rest at 10.30 a.m. and as no noise was heard from the room his mother presumed he was asleep. When she visited the room at 1.15 p.m. she found the babv face down in the cot with the switch cord round his neck and partially suspending the body. At the inquest a verdict that death was due to accidental .strangulation was returned by the coroner.
