BEER SUPPLIES ARE REPLENISHED
With the prospect of beer supplies being replenished before closing time, scores of workers assembled outside the closed doors of the only Greymouth hotel still selling beer for 6d, late yesterday afternoon; in the hope of gaining admission; The new supplies came to hand from Dunedin about mid-afternoon and were “tapped” shortly after five o’clock by which time in the vicinity of 80 meh had queued up outside the hotel. • The hotel had been without beer supplies of any description throughout the day and the stocks of “softer” drinks and spirits were absorbed by early afternoon when the doors were closed. This is probably the first time in the history of Greymouth that a queue has been formed outside a hotel for beer.
