(Rec. 10 a.m.) LONDON, October 14. The Prime Minister Mr Attlee, in a written reply to a written request by the Liberal leader, Mr Clement Davies, for a special House of Commons debate on the dismantling of over 800 factories in Germany, said die dismantling was not intended to reduce Germany to a slum, but would leave sufficient for a self-supporting economy.
Mr Attlee said that German production in certain fields was increased foi* war far higher than was needed for peace. It was this surplus that, in consequence of the Potsdam obligations and as a precaution, for the future, would be removed.
