LITTLE FAST WORK BY CANDIDATES FOR TRENTHAM

WELLINGTON, This Day.

The going was heavy for yesterday morning’s track work at Trentham and began to cut out. The horses covered extra ground and there was little fast work.

Fellowship appeared to be travelling bettex - than Ultimate at the end. of half a mile in 53 3-5. They are expected to commence racing for the season at Trentham on Saturday. The Desert Gold Stakes candidates, Ladyship ancTMarilyn, completed five furlongs in 1.5 2-5, coming home the last half-mile in 52 3-5, and the final three furlongs in 39 4-5. Marilyn got an early advantage and was a length ahead of her companion at the post. Both are in excellent order.

Findon .Looks Well

Findon and Full of Fun struck out well while running seven furlongs in 1.43 4-5, the last foux - in 58 4-5, and the final three in 43 4-5. Both look improved. Torch Bearer drew away from Erin’s Pal in the straight to be two lengths clear at the end of half a mile in 54, the last three furlongs in 40 4-5.

Treasure Tee wa.s of no use to Howe ovei’ six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. They ran the last five in 1.8 2-5, the foux - in 55, and the final three in 4-2-5. Howe is in solid condition, and he may contest the Wainui Handicap in preference to the Wellington Handicap. Renowned and Distinction required 1.24 for the same distance, the last five taking 1.10, the foux - 56 1-5, and the final three 42 2-5. Distinction was the more impressive. Zealander was not required to do bettei - than 55 2-5 ovex' half a mile, the last three furlongs taking 41 2-5. He has done well since he raced successfully at Otaki. Lady Vite and Prince Coronach were restricted to three-quarter pace over a mile. Working from the seven furlongs to the half-mile at threequarter- pace, High Ordex - came home from there in 55, the last three furlongs taking 40 1-5. Balcherrie Works Well

Theio Light had a big lead on Balcherrie ovex - the early stages of five 'furlongs, but the latter was within a length of his companion at the end of the trial in 1.9, the last four furlongs in 55 2-5, and the final three in 41 4-5. Colorado Maid and Mr Buzz were together - at the end of five furlongs in 1.8 3-5, the last half-mile taking 55. The two-year-olds had the use oi the course proper from the five furlongs barrier- to the winning post. Kentucky Moon impressed more than Skipping and Brenlbck when she finished half a length in front of them at the end of four furlongs in 54 4-5, the last two taking 28 1-5. Under a strong hold, Air- Belle and Stellar were together at the end of half a mile in 53, the last two furlongs in 26 3-5. Both will be in excellent order for the Wellesley Stakes. After his disappointing showing at Masterton, Keening was not brought to Trentham with J. P. Ryan’s team. Black Plato, an acceptor for the Glen Hurdles, was injured. in a schooling accident at Awapuni yesterday, and was destroyed.
