BOXING Cos Hodge Gains Points Decision Over Hoffman

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 14. In a professional heavy-weight boxing contest last evening, Ces Hodge of Australia, beat D’Arcy Hoffman, of Dunedin, on points. In the first four rounds Hodges knocked Hoffman down five times and steadily increased his lead on points over the next five 'rounds. In the last round Hoffman made a great bid to win and knocked Hodges down twice for a count of nine. The Australian was so far ahead on points when the roupd began that all he had to do was stand up to win, but he was hard pressed to keep on his feet. Hodges weighed 12st 81b and Hoffman 12st 8).lb.
