MEN ON MISSING MINESWEEPERS IN GOOD HEALTH

PEARL HARBOUR, Oct. 12. United States Navy aircraft yesterday found the four missing minesweepers 440 miles north-east of Palmyra, and reported that the three men aboard seemed to be in good health. The vessels, which were lashed together for towing, had been missing since September 24, they drifted away while the tug Edward M. Grimm was refuelling at Palmyra. The minesweepers, each 85ft long, had been declared surplus, and were being towed from Norfolk, Virginia, to Manila, for use by a stevedoring company. „ . Vice-Admiral John Hall, commandant of the Hawaiian Sea Frontier, immediately ordered a Navy patrol vessel to speed to the scene from Palmyra. It was expected to reach the drifting men in 36 hours. Admiral Hall said he did not want to chance a rescue by aircraft for fear of a crash.
