RUGBY LEAGUE Kiwis Defeat Bradford By 17 Points To 7

LONDON, Oct. 11.

The New Zealand Rugby League team beat Bradford Northern by 17 points to 7. Bradford attacked promptly, but a .raking kick by Nuttall relieved the 'Kiwis. Bradford was penalised for a scrum infringement as the New Zealanders were attacking, and Nuttall only just failed at the goal from far out.

Mcßride then opened the scoring with a try. Carmichael responded with a penalty goal for Bradford. Nuttall scored a penalty goal for New Zealand, and Bradford again pressed strongly. Foster made a superb run from, outside the twenty-five line, beating three defence men before transferring to Edwards, who finished with a clever try, from which Carmichael landed a fine goal. Just before the interval Nuttall levelled the scoring with a penalty goal from an easy position.

Almost throughout the second half, the Kiwis were without Cunningham, who was injured, and Bradford launched a persistent attack, but the .home team missed several opportunities through’faulty handling. The Kiwis’ handling was much better. Their backing-up was also good, but their scrum work after Cunningham’s departure was weak. The Kiwis owed a good deal of their success to Bradford’s mistakes. The Bradford attack continued until the finish, except for occasional breaks by the Kiwis, one of which produced some excellent handling by the forwards and ended in a try by Newton, and Nuttall converted.
