U.S. DEVELOPING MORE POWERFUL ATOMIC WEAPONS
WASHINGTON, September 25.
The United States Atomic Energy Commission disclosed today plans lor the development of more powerful atomic weapons and the broadening of the field for the peace-time use of atomic energy.
An official said that the development would centre on the new atomic chain reactor, pile at Oakridge, Tennessee. which is described as several times more, powerful than the apparatus now operating there. Already, 52 universities are engaged in ihe work of expanding alorole knovvledsc.
