The Foreign Office announced as an economy move that the posts of Governor-General of Malaya and Special Commissioner in South-East Asia would be amalgamated early in 1948 and Mr Malcolm MacDonald bad accepted the position. Lord Killearn’s two-year appointment as Special Commissioner will expire in March, 1948.
