Wedding

Ellis-Gray ' ' The wedding took place recently at St Johns Presbyterian Church, Reefton, of Alison Marguerite (Winnie), younger daughtei’ of Mr and Mrs F. Gray, 'Westport, and Price Mason, only son' of Mr and Mrs T. Ellis, Cobden. Rev F. Trim officiated. The organist, was Mrs E. Baird. During the signing of the Register Miss B. Essex sang “I’ll Walk Beside You”. The bride, who was escorted by her father,' wore a gown bi yvhite embossed satin featuring a scalloped lace yoke- with heart-shaped neckline. Che frock was long waisted a long scalloped train. Her handsmbroidered veil, lent by an old friend of the family, was held in place' by a coronet of orange blossom and flie carried a bouquet of cyclamen, stock, hyacinths and freesias. Attending her as matron T of-honour was Mrs J. Eklund, hdr sister, and, as bridesmaids, Misses Nancy Martin and Freda Webster. All were Crocked alike in white hailstone muslin, made with lo'ng waisted bodices with heart-shaped lace yokes and buttoned down the back from neck to hemline.. White tulle formed a top-knot on the head and the head-dress was gracefully draped over one shoulder. They carried bouquets of mauve cycamen, hyacinths and stock. Mr J. Dunn, Greymouth, was best man and Mr B. Gray, (brother of the bride), Westport, and Mr S. McCabe, Whangarei, .were groomsmen.

A reception was held at Dawson’s Hotel, where 100 guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a salmon pink floral frock under a black edge-to-edge coat with black accessories and a shoulder spray of freesias and maiden-hair fern. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a black crepe frock beaded on the yoke with teal blue beads, under a black edge-to-edge coat and black accessories. Her shoulder spray was of pink cyclamen and maiden-hair fern. Items were given by Mrs Sharpe, Misses P. Caldwell and B. Essex (Greymouth). When Mr and Mrs Ellis left on their wedding tour, the bride wore a grey worsted costume with wine accessories.
