Lack of Support
Southland’s sole candidate for the “Miss New Zealand”' quest, Miss Elaine Robinson, of Mokoreta, has announced that she had decided to withdraw from the contest because of lack of support. “The Southland people do not seem to be interested in the scheme to raise money for food for Britain through the quest for Miss New Zealand,” said Miss Robinson. “No one seems willing to help me, so I have decided to withdraw my entry.”
