Empire Talks Likely On Britain’s Dollar Crisis
LONDON, Sept. 1.
The diplomatic correspondent of The Times says: “The statement that Empire talks on the dollar crisis will be held during the London meetings of the International Bank and Monetary Fund in September is neither confirmed nor denied officially. The Government, however, is unlikely to have overlooked the opportunity of these meetings. “It would be misleading to suggest that Empire dollar discussions are likely to relieve greatly Britain’s immediate difficulties. The discussions will be concerned with arrangements Tor the transitional period. International trade is not likely to become ‘normal’ until about five years after the end of the war.”
