SUBSTANTIAL RISE IN WOOL PRICES AT SYDNEY SALES
(Rec. 12.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day,
At the opening of the 1947-48 wool sales in Sydney, prices showed a substantial advance over the closing rates last June. Good and betterclass fleece wool and the best skirtings were 25 to 30 per cent, higher, while average and inferior lots ruled 20 to 25 per cent, higher. The best price of the day was 5 lid for two separate lots from the Moree district.
Competition was keen, Yorkshire buyers being particularly active, with strong continental support. American buyers were not greatly interested in the type of wool on sale.
