"Labour Is In Peril!”
Sir, —On Saturday morning a pamphlet with the above heading, issued by the Communist Party, was handed to me. The same evening, I. read with great interest in the Evening Star the report on the attitude of the West Coast farmers, as expressed by Mi' C. Jamieson (Koka-tahi-Koiterangi) to private enterprise, with his statement’s political meaning.
A large number of farmers will, no -doubt, welcome the clear statement, and will be waiting , the next logical step of running their farms on a collective or co-operative basis, as in Russia. Should these farmers be in doubt as to the system, their friends, the members of the Trades and Labour Council, will supply the information. It now almost looks as if the Communist Party can withdraw its S.O.S. and issue another headed, “All Danger Past, the Farmers are With Us.”—Yours, etc., ONLOOKER. Greymouth, September 1.
