MAN BURNED TO DEATH IN COTTAGE
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day William Percy Salter, a single man, aged about 65 years, employed as a farm manager at Mason’s Flat, Hawarden, was burned to death when his cottage caught fire early yesterday morning. When neighbours discovered the fire about 3.10 a.m. the flames had too strong a hold and nothing could be done to save him. Mr Salter, who was born in England, lived in the cottage alone. He was last seen about 6 p.m. on Saturday, when he'had tea at the homestead of his employer, Mrs F. E. Mason. _______________
