Mr Nash Discusses Trade In April Last
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Exports for April last were £11,106,000, an increase of £4,000,000 on the figure for the corresponding month in 1946, while for the fourmonthly period ended April, 1947, the exports at £43,447,000 were very much up on £35,142,000 for the comparable period in 1946, said the Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, today, when he released supplementary figures of imports and exports
covering the period January to April, 1947, and the similar period last year. “The expanding value and volume of imports referred to by me in a recent press statement are reflected in the import figures for the first four months of the current year and in the month of April in particular,” said the Minister. “Imports during April reached a total value of £7,883,000, which was £2,200,000 in excess of the imports for April, 1946. The imports during the fbur-monthly period ended April this year were valued at £33,294,000, which is £12,400,000 more than-for the same period last year.
