RUSSIAN ATTACK ON ‘DOLLAR DIPLOMACY’

LONDON, August 12. < The diplomatic correspondent of The Times says that Moscow newspaper and radio commentators continue to blame “dollar diplomacy” for the British crisis. “It is a new opportunity for developing their antiAmerican campaign,” he says. ' “Britain is pictured as caught in the clutches out of which Eastern European countries escaped when they refused the Marshall offer. “Mr Molotov had stated in Paris that the United States would not give a loan to Europe unless severe political conditions were attached to it. and all Russian commentators now point to Britain’s plight as proof of the disastrous effects of such conditions. The United States loan, it is stated, has proved to be a noose round the neck of the British national economy, to be pulled tighter and tighter as the enslaving conditions of the loan materialise. “The whole campaign,” adds the correspondent, “reflects Soviet determination to .exclude American influence wherevef possible and especially from Eastern Europe.”
