Sgt. G. A. Roberts, of J. Force, who has been spending furlough on the West Coast, left today on his return to Japan. Mr R. W. Wesley, of Greymouth, left today for Papakura, to join the J. Force relief draft.

Dr E. Marsden, Director of the Department of Industrial and Scientific Research, who has been visiting Greymouth, left yesterday on his return to Wellington. Mr C. H. Benney, Under-Secretary for Alines, left yesterday on his return to Wellington. Messrs W. E.Tingey, Christchurch, and P. E. Tingey, Wellington,, are visiting Greymouth. Air C. B. Adams, line foreman, Post and Telegraph Department, Greymouth, left this morning on transfer to Ekatahuna.

Mr D. Rose, of Greymouth, has been appointed West Coast field representative for the Vacuum Oil Company Ltd., and is temporarily attached to the Christchurch staff of the company.

Plans for the return to New Zealand of the United Kingdom High Commissioner (Sir Patrick Duff) from Britain are indefinite, as Lady Duff has to undergo an operation in London. — (P.A.) The Rev. C. R. Sprackett, M.A., of Reefton, has received and accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church at Duntroon, Central Otago, and is expected to leave Reefton early next month. The vacancy at Reefton has not yet been filled. Dr Earl R. Carison, an American specialist on.the treatment of spastic paralysis cases, has been invited by the Government to visit New Zealand and advise the New Zealand Crippled Children Society and the Government on the treatment of such case.

Mr James McKenzie, of Seaward Downs, has agreed to accept nomination as a member of the southern ward' of the New Zealand Dairy Board, which position was held by Mr W. G. McCartney, of Christchurch. Because of his appointment as a member of the Dairy Commission, Mr McCartney will automatically retire from the board. — (P.A.) Sir Reginald E. Stradling, chief scientific adviser to the Ministry of Works in the United Kingdom, will visit New Zealand next month at the invitation of the New Zealand Government. —(P.A.)
