OBITUARY Mr John McElwee

The death occurred at Reet'ton this morning, of Mr John McElwee, aged 77. He was born at Westport and had lived in the Reef ton district for the past 34 years, first, as a farmer at Maimai and later working with his sons in a> butchery business at Reefton.

Mr McElwee was one of-the foundation members of the Inangahua Rugby League. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Austin, Charles and John and one daughter, Mrs W. H. King, all of Reefton; also two brothers, David (Westport) and Thomas (Australia) and two sisters, Mesdames Nahr and Hurley (Wellington). The funeral will take place at Reefton tomorrow.

The funeral of Airs Mary Bellew took place this morning at the Ahaura cemetery and was largely attended. The Rev. Father K. Lynch celebrated Requiem Mass at St Mary’s Church, Ahaura, and the Rev. Father J. Quinn, assisted by Father Lynch, conducted the service at the graveside.
