OBITUARY Mrs Veronica Finlay

The death occurred at Greymouth early yesterday morning of Mrs Veronica Finlay, aged 58 years. She was born at Naseby and had lived at Grey mouth for the past 40 years. Mrs Finlay was predeceased by her husband 12 years ago. She is survived by one .son, The Rev. Bro. Basil (Newcastle, N.S.W.), and live daughters, Mrs M. Keeney, and Misses Vera, Maureen and Irene (Cobden), and Rosaleen (Kokatahi), and also by her father, Mr P. Fennessy (Dunedin), five sisters, and four brothers. Mesdames T. O’Neil and M. O’Neil (Tetaho, South Westland), are sisters. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at the Karoro cemetery, following Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church. Mrs E. Kinsey The death occurred at Greymouth this morning, following a long illness, of Mrs Emily Kinsey, aged 62 years. Born at Bradford, England, Mrs Kinsey came to New Zealand 33 years ago, taking up residence at Dunollie. Her husband, Mr Arthur Kinsey, died three years ago and she had since resided with her only son, Mr George Kinsey, Cobden. The funeral will take place at Karoro cemetery on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr David Austin The death occurred at Greymouth this afternoon of Mr David Austin, aged 74 years. Mr Austin was born at Greymouth but had travelled extensively. For the past 25 years he had been engaged on the farming property of Mr J. Rodgers at Barrytown. The only relative in New Zealand is a neice, Mrs G. Morris, of Punakaiki. The funeral will take place at Karoro cemetery on Wednesday morning. Sir George Davis (Rec. 1.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The death has occurred of Sir George Francis Davis, a well-known figure in the business world, who died at his home in the suburb of Vaucluse in his sixty-fourth year. He was chairman of directors of Davis Gelatine Australia Proprietary Ltd and associated companies, the Cockatoo Docks and Engineering Company Proprietary Ltd, the Mount Frome Lime Company Proprietary Ltd and Animal Health Products Proprietary Ltd, and a director of the Mercantile Mutual Insurance Company Ltd, and Alluvial Prospectors Company Ltd. He was born in Auckland in 1883 and educated at King’s College, subsequently coming to Australia. A knighthood was conferred on him in 1941. One of his outstanding public achievements was the reorganisation of the Cockatoo dockyard in which Vickers Armstrong, of London recently gained the controlling interest.
