WESTLAND SUB-UNION TO OPEN SEASON AT HOKITIKA THIS WEEK

The Westland Sub-union’s. 1947 season will open at Hokitika on Saturday, when the following fixtures will be played:— Senior.—Kiwis v St. Mary’s, Cass Square, 2.45 (A. Hay); Excelsiors v Kokatahi, at Kokatahi, 2.15 (J. Bennett). x . Junior.—Ross v Pirates, Woodstock, 2.30 (S. J. Roberts); Excelsiors v Kiwis, Hokitika, 2.45 (E. Mitchell); Kokatahi v St. Mary’s, Cass Square; 1.30 (F. Parks). Third Grade—St. Mary’s v School, Cass Square, 1.30 (H. Pierson). The sub-union at its meeting resolved that the senior competition Consist of three •rounds, and the junior competition two rounds. A report oh -the provision of shower facilities at Cass Square stated that the cost would be in the vicinity of £l2O, including provision of a 100-gallofi btfifef. It was agreed that three showers.be installed in one

unit, and a separate shower in a second compartment. It was decided to approve the plan and accept estimate, and to ask Messrs E. J. Allan and E. W. Heenan to wait on the Hokitika Borough Council to secure authority and assistance.
