FIRE RISK IN NEW ZEALAND BUILDINGS
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Many New Zealand buildings are not all that might be desired from the viewpoint of fire risk, said Superintendent L. O. Wallis, of Gore, piesiding at the opening of the annual conference of the United Fire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand today. , , “We are looking for trouble if we do not do something to overcome this,” he added. It was the responsibility of brigades to ensure that inspection were made and faults remedied. Referring to the importance of preventing the destruction of homes, Superintendent Wallis said the onus was on the smaller brigades to improve conditions so that firemen would remain on the station, thereby ensuring the quick despatch _ of machines when a call was received.
