CRICKET Buller Team to Play West Coast
The Buller representative cricket team which will play West Coast at the week-end, has been selected as follows (one player to be omitted):— S. Stewart (captain), G. Hlcklovd, 1. Phipps, R. Marshall, R. Eyes, J. McDonald, R. Matthews, A. Broad, p. Bateman, R. Humphries, O. Smallholme, A. Cummings, Messrs D. Papps and R. Griffiths have been appointed umpires. The selectors of the West Coast team have chosen W. Hamilton (Marist A) to replace M. Vernon. (United A), who is not available for Saturday’s match.
Women’s Trial Match On Saturday The women’s competition match which was to have been played at the Recreation Ground on Saturday has been postponed and a representative trial match will be held in its place. The following teams have been selected: — A Team.—M. Rodden (capt.), N. Rodden, I. Leach, H. Jackson, N. Tinnelly, M. Cornish, G. Dunn, L. Beck, D. Dewar, L. Bailey, and G. Shand. . B Team.—B. Liggins (capt.), N. Henderson, J. Flood, G. Walker,- A. Worgan, M. McGuinness, M. Gurden, J. de Goldi, P. Cornish, E. Qewar, I. Findlay, and B. Walker. ' • Hammond Announces His Retirement LONDON, February 19. Walter Hammond, in a letter to the Gloucester County Club, says he does not expect to be available for more than one or two games in the coming season. • , The Daily Herald says Hammond also made it clear that he does not wish to be considered for selection, in any future English team.
