ABANDONMENT OF RABAUD (Rec. 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day . Kokopo has been selected as the administrative capital of New Britain, instead of Rabaul, which &\'~ merly was the capital of the- New Guinea mandated territory. In making the announcement, the Minister of External Teritories, Mr Ward, said a decision had not yet been made about the capital of New Guinea territory or the combined Papua and New Guinea territories, if it were decided to amalgamate those areas. „ ~ Kokopo, which -is 20 miles sou ch of- Rabaul, is to have an aerodrome, replacing the present Lukunai strip. Rabaul will be abandoned and the townshib and harbour installations shifted to the Kokopo area.
