LEWIS PASS CLOSED
LORRY FALLS THROUGH BRIDGE A heavy motor lorry, fully loaded, fell through the' decking of a small bridge over Boyle’s creek, on the Lewis Pass road, 14 miles on the Canterbury ' side of the summit, yesterday afternoon, and the road is closed to traffic until further notice. The lorry, which is owned by Baillie Neville and Co., Greymouth, was driven by* Mr. S. Haines, of Greymouth, and was proceeding to Canterbury. Mr. Haines received minor injuries for which he
was treated at the Inangahua Hospital No definite advice concerning the damage to the bridge or the lorry was available when the Evening Star went to press this afternoon. A Reefton report stated that the bridge would probably be closed for about 24 hours.
