Clutha. —The Clutha river dredge return for the week ended February 7 was 190 ounces in 128 hours.— (P.A.) Associated Gold.— The dredge return of Associated Gold Dredges (N.Z.), Ltd., for the week ending February 8, was 64s ounces from 44,934 yards in 217 dredging hours. The Atarau dredge was working through tailings, and there was no washup from this dredge. COMPANY NEWS , Standard Insurance.— The Standard Insurance Company has declared an interim dividend of 1/6 a share for the half-year ended December 31, payable March 3. —(P.A.) Dunlop Australia, Ltd.—Dunlop Rubber Australia, Ltd., .has declared an interim dividend of 3A per cent. Last year interim dividend was 2?, per cent., with a final of 2i per cent., making 5 per cent, for the year. The usual half-year’s preference dividend of 5 per cent, has also been declared. Both dividends will be paid on March 31. Otago Daily Times.— The Otago Daily Times and Witness Newspapers Co., Ltd., earned a net profit of £14,140 in the year ended January 31, against £9752 in the previous year. In addition to £2032 brought in, there is £2698 excess taxation provided to January 31, 1946, making in all £18,870 available. The dividend of 8£ per cent, for the year absorbs £ 10,500, leaving £8370 to be carried forward. Gross earnings were £13,140 higher at £154,594. Assets of £206,285 (against £211.983 last year) inchide stocks £41,194 (against £47,928); Government loans and other investments, £73,236 (£80,048); and cash. £21,462 (£10,918). Creditors are owed £27,295 (£39,831), and reserves are unchanged at £44,12 . The capital of the company is £120,000.
