New Minister of Education.

The Minister of Works, Mr. George Tomlinson, has been appointed Minister of Education in succession to tfce late Miss Ellen Wilkinson. Mr. Tomlinson will be a member of the Cabinet. The Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Mr. C. W. Key, will become Minister of Works and a member of the Privy Council. London, February 10. 1946 Oscars’ Nominations. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the nominations for the 1946 Oscars, and for the first time England has placed candidates in all three leading categories, as follows: —Best play, “Henry V”; best actor, Laurence Olivier in “Henry V”; best actress, Celia Johnson in “Brief Encounter.” The awards will be announced on March 13.—Hollywood, Feb. 10.
