AIR SERVICE TO AMERICA REDUCED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. . The reduction of the Pan-American World Airways service between New Zealand and the United States to one a month is only a temporary measure due to a shortage of equipment, according to Mr. Harold Gatty, SouthPacific regional manager for the comoany, in a message to his Auckland office. Mr. Gatty is at present in Sydney. ■ . Future plans, he said, provided tor a fortnightly Pan-American service, together with a fortnightly service operated by Australian National Airways for the British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines. He said this scheme would give a weekly service to San Francisco. , Mr. Gatty added that the company’s. definite plans were conditional upon the volume of traffic- offering.
