ASSOCIATION Atrocious Conditions For Most Matches

LONDON, Feb. 8. Bad weather forced the postponement of 19 of the matches in the English Football Association Cup. Those league competition teams which took the field despite the weather played in atrocious conditions in most cases, with snow roughly swept or shovelled off the grounds. The results are notable for the number of drawn games. In an amateur international match at Southport, England beat Ireland by 3 to 1.

Results were as follows: Association Cup—Fifth Round: Birmingham v. Manchester City 5/0, Charlion v. Blackburn 1/0; Liverpool v. Derby 1/0; Luton v. Burnley 0/0; Newcastle v. Leicester 1/1; Notts Forest v. Middlesborough 2/2; Stoke v. Sheffield United 0/1.

League One: Arsenal v. Blackpool 1/1; Chelsea v. Grimsby 0/0; Sunderland v. Portsmouth 0/0. League Two: Southampton v. West Bromwich 0/1; Westham v. Newport County 3/0. League Three: Aidershot v. Notts County 1/1: Brighton v. Norwich 3/3; Bristol City v. Swindon 3/1; Ispwich v. Crystal. Palace 1/1; Queen’s Park Rangers v. Mansfield 3/1; Southend v. Bristol Rovers 2/3: Watford v. Reading 2/1.
