RUNANGA MEDICAL AND ACCIDENT FUND MEETINGS

The financial statements presented at the annual meeting of the Runanga Medical Society and the Accident Relief Fund yesterday showed a credit balance of £ll5l/1/1 in the medical fund and a credit of £442 2/6 in the accident fund. Medical Society officers were elected as follows:—President, Mr. F. J. Oakley; secretary, Mr. J. Gillaly; committee, Messrs. D. Barnes, J. McPhee, J. Y. Rutherford, and A. Fisher; trustees, Messrs. T. Gray, W. Richmond, R. Nelson; auditor, Mr. P. C. Heaphy. Accident Fund: President, Mr. G.. E. English; secretary, Mto iT. McPhee; committee, Messrs. T. Gray, R. Nelson, J. Y. Rutherford, D. Barnes, and W. Richmond; trustees, Messrs. A. Williams and F. J. Oakley; auditor, Mr. H. J. Wicks. It was decided that in future provision be made for the supply of drugs, which are not pharmaceutically listed, for the relief of asthmatic cases, the supply to be under the direct control of the medical officer and the committee. . ■ Accidents during the six months ended December 31, 1946, totalled 213, comprising 97 at Liverpool mine, 96 at Strongman mine, and 20 at cooperative mines. Motions of condolence were passed with the relatives of the late Messrs. J. Southward, J. Tallentire, and C. Pattinson.
