BUZZARDS CONTINUE

SEVERE CONDITIONS IN BRITAIN EMERGENCY MEASURES (Rec. 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 6. t London’s snowstorm this morning continued for three hours. Latest reports show blizzards are still raging in many parts of northern England and snow is falling over a wide area in southern England. Buckinghamshire has had snow continuously for 16 hours. A Dakota successfully parachuted supplies to several hundred airmen cut off since Monday night at Binbrook station, Lincolnshire. The Air Ministry stated that the weather was so bad that the Dakota would not have been flown but for an emergency. Food supplies were to-day parachuted to a number of other R.A.F. marooned stations. The Ministry of Transport has directed the Railways to give coal traffic priority and it has placed an embargo on all other goods traffic except perishables and foodstuffs. The railways report that several lines continue to be blocked and most trains on the useable lines are greatly delayed. The railways are using many snow ploughs. Efforts are still being made to reach several villages cut off since Monday. Many gangs, including war prisoners, are trying to clear the main roads. There is still serious anxiety for the couple who have been missing in the Goathand-York-shire district since Monday. More snowfalls and severe frosts are predicted. Weather experts say the conditions will continue for several days.

Widespread electricity and gas cuts are operating to-day. Correspondents report more snowfalls in many parts of Europe. Still lower temperatures are predicted for Berlin, where the death-roll through cold, with two more fatalities, has reached 105 since December 1.
