CONTRACT HELD UP
NEGOTIATIONS FOR SALE OF TEA (Rec. 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 5. Difficulties have arisen in negotiations between the British and Ceylon Governments over the new contract for the sale of all Ceylon’s tea to Britain, says the British United Press Colombo correspondent. It is understood that Britain offered to pay additional shillings a pound with the contract restricted to one year. Ceylon is reported to be demanding a five-year contract. It is thought that unless Britain agrees the new contract is unlikely to be signed.
