RAILWAY ACCIDENT
THREE LOCOMOTIVES IN COLLISION Three railway locomojtive’s were: damaged when they were involved in a head-on collision on the station side of the Tainui street crossing yesterday. Two of them were fairly severely damaged, principally about the buffers and cow-catchers. The accident occurred when an A class locomotive returning from the station yards to the sheds at Elmer lane met a UC locomotive with a B class locomotive attached proceeding from the sheds to the station yard. The locomotives were travelling at a moderate pace when they met. They were hidden from each other until shortly before the impact by a curve in the line. The locomotives were able to leave the scene under their own power.
