CYCLING Slow Times Recorded In Track Events
The dead nature of,the track was reflected in the times recorded at the Greymouth Cycling Club’s meeting at Victoria Park last evening. The going was very loose and the time in the two-mile event was almost hall a minute slower than last season’s average. The conditions, however, suited D. Clark, one of the strongest riders, in the club, and he scored a double success. P. Egan, who won a double last week, also rode well. The fields were below average size but. the competition was keen. The results were as follows: — Senior half-mile. — D. Clark (70 yards) 1; P. Hicks (25) 2; P. Egan (60) 3. Time: Imin. 9secs. Senior two miles. —D. Clark (300) 1; P. Egan (250) 2; H. Pratt (scr) 3. Time: 5.5. Junior half mile. — A. King-(60) 1; P. Egan (50) 2; J. Gardner (scr) 3. Time: 1.12. Hack half mile.— Rooney (60) 1; Frampton (70) 2; Nelson (scr) 3. Time: 1.13. Boys’ half mile. —Stokes (scr) 1; Morgan (40) 2; Trembath (100) 3. Time: 1.13.
