GEORGE CROSS AWARD
GERMAN BOMBS DE-FUSED AT LUBECK (Rec. 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 4. The George Cross has been awarded to Squadron-Leader Hubert Dinwoodie, of Hampshire, foi' “coldblooded heroism in de-fusing 11 shock-sensitive German bombs in Lubeck docks in August, 1946, when there was a danger that the bombs might detonate two train-loads of bombs destined for dumping at sea.” The George Medal has also been awarded to Corporal Roland Garred, of St. Leonard-on-Sea, and the British Empire Medal has been awarded to Leading Aircraftman John Hatton, of London, for their p<jU't in the incident.
