In Be Mood In Top Form

In the Mood showed that she is at the top of her form when she won the 3.36 class pace at the Canterbury Owners’ and Breeders’ Association’s trials at Addington yesterday in the smart time of 3.31 2-5, the last mile and a half being cevered in 3.13. Margaret Hall began quickly to lead from Loyal King, Sir Michael, and In the Mood. Doyle moved In the Mood up to take the lead with a mile to go, and after resisting a strong challenge in the straight from Sir Michael, In the Mood held on to win by half a length. Margaret Hall and Loyal King finished close up, and they should be improved by the race. After following Reckless Lady for more than a mile and a quarter in the 3.48 class pace at the trials at Addington yesterday, Golden Game took over the role of pacemaker, and carried on for an easy win over her stable-mate, Bohemian, which is a recent addition to V. Alborn’s team at Addington. Some promising two-year-olds took part in a parade at Addington yesterday, and the youngsters should all benefit by the outing under race conditions. In the first division, Red Light, a Red Shadow colt from C. K.‘ Yeatman’s stable, showed a lot of ability to win from David’s Pride. A well-built colt, Red Light should develop into a useful performer. The Dillon Hall—Judith colt from R. J. Humphreys’s team proved one of the best seen out in the second division. His driver, D. C. Watts, was dislodged at the start, but he quickly scrambled back into the seat and set out after the leaders. In an interesting finish he was narrowly beaten by J. D. Litten’s Gold, Bar—Flying Helen filly, and Hilda Scott, from C. Isaacson’s stable.
