HIGH ARMY OFFICER PLEADS GUILTY COURT MARTIAL AT CAIRO (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 5. _ Lieutenant-Colonel Louis Pedretti, war-time deputy director of the hiring and disposals branch, G.H.Q., Middle East, pleaded guilty before a court-martial to four charges of receiving bribes, totalling £BOOO, from people seeking Government contracts, says Reuter’s Cairo correspondent. The prosecution produced a statement alleged to have been made by Pedretti, in which he said: “I came to the conclusion that accepting gifts was common in Egypt/’ n One charge specified that £5OOO was received for granting a contract disposing of Helwan camp. Another stated that Pedretti received £2500 from a contractor for the demolition of pillboxes near Alexandria.
