TABRIZ WARNING
THREAT TO USE FORCE TEHERAN, December 4. The Prime- Minister of Persia (Ghavam Sultaneh) has issued a proclamation stating that the elections will begin on the arranged date, December 7, except in Azerbaijan. where they will be held “when the security foreps are in position."
The Tabriz radio announced last night that a gathering of 50,000 people in Tabriz passed a resolution demanding general mobilisation in Azerbaijan. The crowd s afterward marched to the offices of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party whose sec-retary-general gave them permission in the name of -the party to fight with the army against Persian Government troops. . “The Central Government will face arms if it enters Azerbaijan with arms,” said the Tabriz radio. “The Central Government’s actions in Zinjan have forced the Azerbaijan Government to distribute arms to all workers, members of the national militia and youth associations to enable the inhabitants to defend their freedom.”
