Filipino Police Battle.
Filipino military police, equipped with mortars and machine-guns, are staging a running battle with ■ be- ; tween 400 and 600 members of the Hukbalahap organisation near San Matea, less than 25 miles from Manila. Hukbalahap forces are attempting to evacuate the central Luzon Plain to seek refuge in the less, strongly guarded southern provinces. —Manila, December 3.
Fighting in Sumatra The Dutch, using aircraft and artillery, finally succceeded in dislodging the Indonesians from positions near Medan, in Sumatra, which they should have evacuated on November--28. The New Delhi radio stated, that a five-hour battle, took place between Dutch and Indonesian troops in the north of Sumatra. .At least 17 Dutch soldiers were reported Rilled.—Batavia, December 3.
