The following are the returns for the 20 postal districts in the 34th week of the New Zealand Famine Emergency Committee’s campaign to save food for Britain, the districts being listed in order of merit calculated on a population basis (butter coupons are mentioned first, with the meat coupons in parenthesis)):— Nelson 250 (13,819), Oamaru 152 (4,878); Gisborne 428 (7372); Palmerston North 392 (9,852); New Plymouth 120 (7,579); Hawke’s Bay 512 (7,784); Timaru 176 (4,847); Masterton 62 (2,609); Christchurch 410 (20,967); Hamilton 83 (8,515); Wanganui 89 (3,414); Invercargill 120 (3.959); Blenheim 125 (764); Whangarei 86 (2,628); Auckland 198 (11,343); Thames 62 (1,672); Dunedin 54 (3,672); Greymouth 62 (620); Wellington 90 (2,907); Westport 12 (115); totals butter 3,483, meat 119,316- , , With a contribution of nearly two coupons a household, Nelson was placed first, Oamaru second and Gisborne third. Last week’s contributions brought the Dominion totals to date to 7,013,459 meat coupons and 288,561. butter coupons.
