Vice - Regal. The Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., and Lady Fiey—berg, accompanied by Lieutenant D. Loran, aide-de-camp and Miss R. Eley, lady-in-waiting, left Greymouth this morning for Westport. To-morrow they will travel from Westport via Hanmer for official visits to Dunedin and Invercargill.

Mr L. H .Warner, London manager for Messrs J. Hott, Ltd., advertising agents, is visiting Greymouth and will leave to-morrow for Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. D. Methven will leave this evening for Christchurch where they will reside. Mr. H. P. Mclver, assistant traffic manager, Railways Department, Christchurch, is visiting Greymouth, together with Mr. A. E. Benzie, commercial agent. Private advice has been received in Wellington from Viscount Bledisloe, a former Governor-General, that he expects to leave England this week on a visit to Australia. Lord Bledisloe mentioned that his visit might extend “possibly also to New Zealand.” He expects to be absent from England' for about five months.—(P.A.) The post of Deputy Chief of the New Zealand Air Staff, vacant since the transfer to Britain on liaison duties of Air Commodore M. W. Buckley, has been filled by the appointment of Group Captain R. J. Cohen, until recently commanding officer at the Air Force station at Ohakea. He has been succeeded at Ohakea by Wing Commander D. W. Baird, and another senior officer, Wing Commander G.
