HEALTH STAMP SALES

SUPPLIES NOW LIMITED IN ALL DISTRICTS UNPRECEDENTED DEMAND In the first week of sales of the 1946 health stamps on the West Coast more business was transacted than during the four i months of the 1945 campaign. Sales amounting to £B4O 4/11 were recorded at eight district offices and, when the returns are received from smaller offices, the total is expected to be in the vicinity of £9OO. Sales on the West Coast from October 1, 1945, to January 31, 1946, amounted to £795. The individual returns for the week were as follows: Greymouth, £525 9/11; Hokitika, £lB6 17/9; Reefton, £B3 5/-; Ross £l6 10/-; Blackball £8 13/9; Runanga £7 3/6; Kumara £6 5/-; Brunnerton £6. Commenting on the excellent sales, the Chief Postmaster at Greymouth (Mr. F. Mairs) said yesterday that health stamps were now in short supply throughout the Dominion. It was expected, he said, that the stamps would be off the market within a few weeks, as sales had been unprecedented in all districts. Those people who were interested in the stamps had, he thought, only a limited period in wliich to procure them.
